Wassily Chair Strap Replacement Cost
There will be a 15% price increase effective June 1, 2026, to accommodate the increased raw material cost due to tariffs. Read details below.
The highest quality vegetable tanned leather comes from Mexican tanneries. This is the quality belt grade leather used to make Wassily chair straps. Tariffs have had a significant impact on vegetable tanned leather due to a complicated set of rule changes, many taking effect in 2026. It’s not only the inbound tariffs to the US, but the added burden of tariff costs for the essential chemicals required for the tanning process that Mexico must import from other countries. The net effect is increased cost of about 25% for our raw material. Consequently, we are forced to raise our prices effective June 1st, 2026.
The full set price represents a 10% savings over the cost of all 7 component individually.
